Dave Prowse, the larger-than-life actor who wore the Darth Vader costume in the first three Star Wars films, announced yesterday that effective immediately he will no longer be attending conventions outside the United Kingdom.
Mr. Prowse, who has been a regular on the convention circuit for decade made a brief statement on his official web site:
“It is with great sadness that I announce that, as of today, I will no longer be attending international shows. I have had a wonderful time meeting so many incredible fans from countries all over the world. I truly thank each of you for your support and the opportunity to meet so many of you.
May the force be with you.
While no reason was given for no longer attending international conventions, Mr. Prowse announced in 2014 that he is suffering from dementia.
Mr. Prowse will still be attending UK conventions, apparently. And for those who can’t make it there to meet him, he does offer signed photos on his website.
